Once upon a time, I thought resilience was just about bouncing back, when adversity hits. But later from personal experiences, I learned that it is not just about bouncing back, it's about standing firm in faith, trusting in God’s promises, and overcoming the storms of life with unwavering strength.

As we settle into 2025, let us look to the Bible for timeless examples of resilience, where men and women in the midst of trials stood firm and emerged stronger than ever. The power of resilience has not changed. It is as relevant today as it was in biblical times.
Let’s look at a few leadership experiences of resilience
Esther: Courage in the Face of Fear
Esther’s resilience did not come because of her generational linage, but it came from a deep sense of purpose and a willingness to step into danger for the sake of her people. Esther 4:16, rang out the words “If I perish, I perish” and these words became her battle cry. These were not just her words; they were a solid embrace of her divine purpose with courage and faith. This right here, teaches us that resilience sometimes requires risking everything for a greater good not just of self but for others.
Job: Unwavering Endurance In Spite of Suffering
The story of Job teaches us that resilience is not about avoiding hardship but enduring it with faith. He faced unimaginable loss, his family, his wealth, and his health. Yet he never wavered in his trust in God. His words are timeless “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised” (Job 1:21). Job’s resilience shows us that even in the darkest moments, God’s presence sustains us.
Moses: Leading Through Trials
Moses' journey from a stammering outcast to the leader of the Israelites teaches the power of resilience in leadership. Confronting Pharaoh, enduring the hardships of the desert, and dealing with a rebellious people, Moses though questioning, still kept his eyes on God’s promises. "But Moses said to God, 'Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?'" (Exodus 3:11). Despite his doubts, he persevered, showing that true resilience comes through trusting in God’s calling, no matter the obstacles.
David: Overcoming The Giants
David's resilience as a young shepherd boy shone brightly when he faced Goliath, the giant that terrified a whole nation. David didn't rely on his own strength but on God's power: "The battle is the Lord’s" (1 Samuel 17:47). His courage to face the giant shows that with God’s strength, even the most overwhelming challenges are conquerable. In 2025, we must face our own Goliaths, knowing we are never alone.
So, here’s my encouragement to you today:
As we all seek to stand firmly inside a new year, whether you are a professional leader or leading your own life; let the stories of Esther, Job, Moses, and David’s inspire you. In 2025, seek to embrace resilience with the same unwavering faith, courage, and trust in God that they demonstrated. Like them, we are all called to rise above challenges, knowing that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness. Move forward into the battles of life with the certainty that your resilience will be unshakable, for you walk with the One who is greater than any storm.
Be strong. Be bold. Be resilient. God is with you.
