Are you still holding on to the - Fake it till you make it mindset?

Today in both life and leadership, more than ever it is easy to come across people who seem to be knowledgeable with a confident tone, several buzzwords and maybe even a polished online presence.  Yet with careful assessment, the surface does not always match the depth.

Here is why the "fake it till you make it" mindset is totally outdated:

 🔹 Surface knowledge is easy to spot. With access to so much real information and expertise online, it does not take long for shallow understanding to be exposed. People can tell when you are just echoing what you have heard and not what you have gained through experience.

🔹 It erodes trust quickly. Pretending to know more than you do can get you in the door for once.  However, when expectations don’t match the delivery, then trust breaks; and in business trust is everything.

🔹 It delays real growth. Faking it puts learning and growth on pause. If you are pretending, you may stay clear of asking questions, seeking mentorship or ways of improving. Those actions are a growth and career killer in the long run.

Finally, confidence is great to have, but it should be matched with curiosity and humility. Real progress comes from showing up honestly and putting in the work.

So, as you come closer to the end of your week, if you know deep down that this is speaking you. Make a commitment to shift from faking it to learning it. The difference is everything.
